Swiftie Forever

June 19, 2016 marks the 10th year anniversary of Taylor Swift. It all started with the release of her first single, the country ballad Tim McGraw on June 19, 2006. Tim McGraw tells a story of a girl whose boyfriend is about to leave for college. They broke up and the girl wanted her ex – boyfriend to remember her every time a Tim McGraw song plays on the radio.

I was acquainted with Taylor’s music back in 2007. I was a senior in high school back then. My cousin lent to me a CD with a song Teardrops On My Guitar. At first I thought the singer was a guy so I gave the song a try. I was shocked to learn that the singer was actually a girl but still, I liked the song.

I didn’t stan for Taylor until 2008 when I was a sophomore college student. My love for her reignited after hearing Love Story on the radio one afternoon. I became a full pledged Swiftie then.

I would always listen to her music. Our CD player would constantly play her songs every morning. It became a routine.

She had released five amazing chart – topping albums. Every important event of my life, there is a Taylor Swift song that acts as its soundtrack. Every time her song comes on, it constantly reminds me about a certain time in my life when an important event happened.

She’s an inspiration to me. She had risen above so many problems in her 10 years in the music industry. Nothing can knock her down anymore. A lot has been said about Taylor but still, she remains on top. As the saying goes, Taylor always wins.

Taylor Swift, thank you very much! Thank you for the amazing 10 years of beautiful music. No matter what happens, I will be here for you.

Keep your head up high. Always remember this: “People throw rocks at things that shine.” Happy anniversary!
